Norwalk Tree Alliance’s plan for the Hal Memorial Tree Memorial at Fodor Farm was approved by Norwalk’s mayor and the directors of Public Works and Recreation & Parks in January.
Landscape architect and NTA board member Allan Broadbent designed the plan. In presenting it to the Norwalk Tree Advisory Committee, Allan noted: “It’s a simple, but elegant plan that I think will memorialize Hal’s impact on Norwalk. At the same time, it will unify and improve the front of Fodor Farm.”
Two matching red oaks (Quercus rubra) along Flax Hill Road will frame the distinctive heritage farmhouse. As well, a low boxwood hedge with white “Anabelle” hydrangeas will be installed along the farmhouse porch. Plantings of vinca with daffodils will complete the refined, classic design. A granite marker, as a tribute to Hal’s legacy, will be placed in the bed of vinca.
